A Vermont Afternoon

Tom and I took a break from some apartment cleaning to enjoy a little bit of Vermont on this gorgeous day. Our first stop was my little cupcake. We then hit up Boyden Valley Winery to use a coupon for a two-for-one wine tasting.

It was my first time at the winery, although I have driven by it plenty of times. For $6 we each got to choose 7 wines and each received a wine glass to take home. Fortunately, Tom and I choose different wines which meant that we could taste each others to try even more wines.

Of course, I forgot to take photos of the tasting itself....

I've only been to one wine tasting before, and it was there that my "tasting-rating system" was devised. For any wine that I like and would want to buy again I put a happy face next to the name. For any wine that is alright, but drinkable, I put a face with neither a frown nor a smile. For any wine I just don't like I draw a sad face. The good news is that most of their wines have happy faces!

We fell in love with the Vermont Ice Apple Creme. It is absolutely delicious. Like with most wine tastings, we were not able to leave empty handed, and walked out a bottle of the Creme, as well as their Big Barn Red.

Our day continued as we headed up through the Notch and into Stowe and Waterbury. This route also meant that we could stop at the Cabot Cheese Annex on our way back to samples the cheeses and oogle at the Lake Champlain Chocolates.
